Me and my boyfriend want to go camping in colorado and want it to be a perfect experience. Ideas on where to go or stay (pet friendly) activities, unexpected supplies we should bring.... advice? Cost estimate? Anything would be great
thanks

Answer
Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park

Its gets cold early in the mountains. Even could snow anytime now.
Colorado is a summer camping state.

Bring warm clothes. It gets cool even in the summer, in the mountains, at night. Be aware there are dangerous animals around for tent sleeping. It the wilderness. Sleep where there are lots of people around.

It probably will rain in the afternoon if youre high up. Be ready for that

Advice
Bears and Coyotes are not friendly. .

How much will a road trip cost?

I am thinking about going on a roadtrip this summer through Colorado mountains, or anyplace with a lot to see thats not to far from the midwest if you have any ideas! I am wondering about how much it would cost. It would be my husband and I and possibly two friends. We have tents so we could camp. I'd like to go for about 4-6 days. Anyone done this before, please let me know how much you spent so I can get an idea! Thanks!!

http://www.mapquest.com/directions
You can go on Mapquest and enter your point A to point B
Under the directions and map, it will give mileage, drive time, and estimated gas cost

I would check from your house to Estes Park CO, which is the gateway to
Rocky Mountain National Park. Remember your car uses a lot more gas,
going up steep mountains that it does driving flat areas.
Also, remember that it can still snow that high up Oct-April
If youre camping in a tent, try for July -Aug. You might need reservations
Be sure you camp somewhere very public, as mountains have wolves, bears..wild animals. Leave food in your car overnight.

Once you figure your gas, then you can estimate how much per person, per day it would cost

I wouldnt take less than $500. When Ive camped it seems to rain every afternoon, for a short time.... that high up..
So, dont camp on the downside of a hill that would flood your camping area. Did that ! LOL
Have fun. You'll love the driving part, once you arrive
