Where's a good place to tent camp the week of March 12th that is within an eight hour drive of Iowa?

Go south. 8 hours will almost get you to the Gulf Coast, depending on how fast you drive and how often/long you stop. March 12 is, of course, still winter, so the further south you go the more likely you are to find weather appropriate for camping.

Any park in Wisconsin, Minnesota or Iowa 17 year olds can camp legally?

I want to go to a real park, but i want to just be out in the woods were no one will have just reason to come out and bother us. What about Superior National Forest? Can you just go up and camp there and have park rangers available in case there's an emergency? I don't want to go to a campground, which is a glorified trailer park.
While lets think here, im 17.
"Hey mom, me and nick are just gonna go up in the woods for a few days, be back tuesday, hopefully!"
Also, Like I said, I would like a somewhere with somekind of park ranger or authority to be there in case of emergency, but i don't want them to be omnipresent because we'll be drinking.

It's called going to the forest and sleeping in a tent. Not too difficult to figure out. Just find a map a pick out a place you want to go, duh!

It's not like government regulates every square inch of America.
