we don't like camping right next to our cars or other campers
Answer
Hickory Run State Park has some good remote tenting sites. I camped there years ago in the dead of winter, on a near-zero degree night, and it was awesome (of course, NO one was around at that time!)

Good campsites in eastern Pa?

I'm 17 and a group of my friends want to go camping. we want somewhere with a lake and not camping in cabins, but bringing stuff for a fire and tents and all that. Where's the best place to do that? I live around Philly but I'm willing to drive up to 3 hours away.
Answer
Dingman's Campground is a nice one, at the Delaware Water Gap. The Water Gap is a big park area that has several campsites you could look into.
If you want to travel out a bit (I believe around 3 hours from you), there's Ricketts Glen State Park, near Wilkes-Barre, PA, which is really really nice if you're into hikes and waterfalls. They have a Falls Trail that's basically one long descent into a huge cascade of waterfalls, and is seriously awesome. Bring a bathing suit and water shoes so you can walk comfortably into the falls (you will want to!).
