How to choose the tent?

Macle

I want to buy a 3-4 persons tent, but i don't know how to choose? What needs attention? PLS give some suggestion

Answer
Your own values affect the ideal tent for you. If you are car-camping, then you can purchase a large, heavy tent of low-quality materials. If you are backpacking, then you probably need to purchase an extremely lightweight tent, low-profile, that is constructed with aluminum poles and full rain fly. If you are a fair-weather camper, then you can buy a high-peak cabin or tunnel tent with a peak height of 84 inches, seven feet. If you are concerned about high winds and are seeking a lightweight dome tent, then your peak height will be 48 inches, four feet, or less. If you want privacy or a meeting room, then you may want two tents to divide your crowd.

Big Agnes Copper Spur Ultralight 4 Tent, 50 inch peak, 6 pounds, $600.
Big Agnes Wyoming Trail 4 Base Camp, 72 inch peak, 14 pounds, $500.
REI Kingdom 4 Tent, 75 inch peak, 16 pounds, $400.

best tent for road trip?

Moriah

We are going on a month long road trip and really roughing it because we do not want to spend a lot of money. I've only every camped in good weather with some moderate rain--i have a coleman tent and it's pretty good but the material is a little cheap and I dont think it'll last all summer(we go to at least 3 music festivals along with this road trip)
I love cabin style tents but i need something that's going to withstand heavy wind and rain because i don't know what kind of weather we will run into.
I am only willing to spend $300 at the most(would much rather spend close to $200) and i would like to have a 3-4 person tent.
I don't really know too much about tents and reviews on amazon are sooooo contradicting!!!!
HELP PLEASE!
(I kind of need the tent by may 20th for the first music fest...)

Answer
With car camping nothing can beat the Coleman instatent series for that price range, these are easy to set cabin style tents. Your perceptions about the materials must be that you have an older model that was not well cared for. I have many Coleman tents that are 20+ years old and still going strong. And these get used and abused by boy scouts every summer LOL! any way check them out I know you will be satisfied.
