Camping in the poconos?

Jem

Come on guys like i seirously need your help. Where can i camp in the poconos that doesnt require you to be 18 or older or like reserve it 10 days ahead of time. I really am looking for a laid back simple place ot just put up a tent. thats all.

Answer
If you are willing to fore go car-camping there are plenty of places. It does mean a walk-in, but in many cases not more than a tenth of a mile. Most of the Water Gap and River areas use the reservation system. However, all of the Delaware State Forest is open to primitive camping except in a few places close by the district forester. Same deal with the Lackawanna State Forest closer to Scranton and the western Poconos. All PA State Game Lands are closed to camping except the areas around the Appalachian Trail and a few other hiking trails.

If your style of camping involves drive-up spots, central restrooms/showers, coolers, and lawn chairs then I'm afraid that you will be limited to state parks and private campgrounds. Unless you so opt to find a quiet place on a remote section of PA Game Lands that is not prone to be patrolled by the local conservation officers.

Avoid the crowds, buy a backpack, no one will hassle you.

Camping grounds help!!?

Ohjeeze

For my 18th birthday, I want to go camping with about 10 of my friends. I would be going mid April for a weekend. I live in the Westchester area so I would like to go somewhere as far as either the Poconos or the Adirondacks.

It would help he a lot if I had any recommendations for places that were:
-good for tents
-wont mind loud obnoxious teenagers
-will allow 10+ people
-kinda cheap
-fun as hell even in april

Thanks ahead of time!

Answer
Green Mountain National Forest has some opportunities for tent camping.

However, no one likes "loud, obnoxious teenagers." The developed campgrounds are closed in April. Also, April is likely to be winter camping. Therefore, dispersed camping is really your only choice.
