Where is the best camping place in Tennessee in your opinion?I am planning to take my two boys (tent) camping for a week during spring break March 16-21. So I want to take them to a nice campground.
I have been looking in middle and east Tennessee.
Also do you know any good free primitive camping sites in middle or east Tennessee.

the great smoky mountains national park is an amazing place to go camping; 800 miles of trails, fishing, horseback riding, amazing waterfalls, tons of wildlife, camping there is $14-$23 a night; this is a great place to go camping, i have been there many times with my family and we can't wait to go back this summer

my friends and i want to camp out in gatlinburg for spring break...?

but i want to be basically out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a fire and a tent. i dont want to be where there are other people camping out, just me and my friends. i want to be more or less secluded. do you know of a place like this where we can go camp out at night and during the day hike back out and go do fun gatlinburg stuff? is it legal to do that in a state park like the great smoky mountains nat'l park?

Answer
In the Smoky Mountains, camping is allowed only in designated camping areas, and for a good reason.

The Forest Service maintains the campgrounds, and helps keep you safe from bears that live in the mountains there. Black bears are usually shy, but they will come into your camp and tear up everything looking for food. And black bears are very big and very dangerous.

So, you can find a campsite away from other campers, but you'll need to be in the designated campgrounds. Cades Cove, Tremont, and a couple of other areas are really nice.

Head over to http://www.nps.gov/grsm/ for more park information.
