Answer
When in bear country, you want to keep cooking to a minimum. Cooking food is like ringing the dinner bells for bear miles around.

If you must cook, cook a big breakfast and eat cold for dinner.

Keep your foods sealed and packaged until you eat. Eat away from your campsite, i.e. dual sites, one for eating and one for sleeping, like 50-100 yards apart. Keep all food in one pack and hang it from a tree at the 'eating' camp, not your 'sleeping' camp.

Wash all your clothes and gear several times in just water...no scented soaps. Let it air dry outside for several days if possible. Most dryers are coated with fragrance from those dryer sheets, so do not use the dryer. This includes packs, sleeping bags, clothes, pillows, etc.

Look at every single thing you carry and eliminate scents. You will be surprised how many scents we carry....

Chapstick, toothpaste, chewing gum, hand/body lotion, sunscreen, bug spray/lotion, shaving cream, deoderant-antiperspirant, foot or shoe powder, baby/body powder, etc. etc. There are a lot!

I was at Philmont in New Mexico and we shared a camp with some scouts. A bear tore through a tent, sleeping bag and was attempting to eat a scouts feet....due to his Desinex foot powder that was on his socks and boots. Do not ever put powder in your boots.

The mantra here is "Scent Stealth".....if you don't smell like something good bear will not bother you.

What is the most recent condition of the bathrooms/showers at the reef RV park in rocky point mexico?

We went last mid april, and the showers were seriously clogged and had some insects. The management said it was because of easter and that they would fix it soon. Im just wondering if anyone knows if they have yet? And also if it is still $5 a day to camp in a tent on the beach.

Answer
Using the bushes next to tents is safer
