We are looking to tent camp in October.
Answer
We like the Davidson River Campground. Take the Blue Ridge Parkway toward Cherokee, at US 276 turn left toward Brevard. Campground is on the right.
We also like Lake Powhatan which is just west of Asheville and near the Biltmore Plantation.
If it is still hot, camp at the campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mt. Pisgah and across the road from the Pisgah Inn.

We want to be in a big enough area for about 4 or 5 tents - probably at least 10 people. And we want to take our dogs and let them run and play, so no leash laws and no campers near by. Preferrably near water - a river or lake. Not too far out - hiking less than a mile in...any ideas??

Camp Kiowee it is a great big area that sits on a lake i took my dog when we went camping there! it is on the border of SC near NC
