We are going on a honeymoon in the middle of July. We live in Iowa. We are wondering what to do, things to see, places to visit, without spending a whole lot of money.
Answer
We got married last July, and we rented a little cabin for a week in the Appalachian Mountains. It was lovely - just the two of us; we explored all the local things and rented movies and cuddled. It depends on what type of person you are, and how much entertainment you want. A secluded cabin for a week would drive some extroverts nuts I'm sure. :-)
Another option is a bed & breakfast. However, I've heard some complaints that the thin walls make it not so private, so you might want to get a recommendation or visit it yourself.
I would avoid high tourist areas, like Orlando. Things are very expensive there, so it's hard to have an inexpensive time unless you get a deal on a package or something.
How much do you want to travel? You could go to a state park and rent a cabin there (though I would advise against tent camping on your honeymoon!). Or just a hotel in a big city where you can do a lot of walking and site-seeing - doesn't have to be expensive if you are okay with just walking around. That might be better if you're looking for something more exciting than a remote cabin.
I hope these help!

My perfered place when I'm in the area is: American Marine at Dubuque Yacht Basin & RV park right downtown. Their phone #(563) 556-7708. Farther out of town is a nice Corps of Engineers park Called Grant River COE Lock & Dam 11 only 10 miles up river, in Wisconson
I camp in a self contained motorhome so lack of facilities doesn't bother me.
Mud Lake is cool, I just like it all or nothing. Mines of Spain Recreation Area might have camping, but I'm not too sure about along the river.
North of town is also Finleys Landing, a small park for mostly tent camping. They are right on the river with a boat ramp, dock and marina. Their phone #(563) 556-6745.
Happy camping.
