I'm considering Highlands Hammock and Ocala for tent camping for a group of us for my birthday. Assuming we don't want primitive sites, which site #'s are the best for tent camping (privacy/location) for these parks or others in central or south florida?

If you REALLY want something nice, you might want to consider Fort DeSoto County Park in southern Pinellas County (Tampa Bay area).
Fort DeSoto's North Beach was named the #1 Beach in the U.S. (Hawaii included) in 2005! It sits on the Gulf, at the mouth of Tampa Bay!

Beaches across America that allow camping?

Okay, I've decided that for one summer my husband and friends are going to be hippies and live in a van and travel around the country. Where are some beaches that allow camping? I suppose with or without fires. It could be tent camping or in an RV/trailer. We live in Louisiana and have unlimited funds, so no place is too far (except Alaska and Hawaii). Any suggestions for good destinations?

Beaches along both the east and west coasts offer thousands of campgrounds the problem though is getting a campsite since nearly the entire USA just like you wants to spend the summer driving up and down the coast. In California all beach campgrounds get reserved 6 months to a year in advance. So this summer is out of the question, start planning now for next year. Get your reservations in early and look here
