We're going camping in Yellowstone National Park (Canyon Campground), and we're planning to take our 11'x17' Coleman tent. The campground says that their largest tent pads are 12' x 12' with two feet leeway. Has anyone here seen the tent pads there (are they boxed in, or just rougher around the edges or something)? Other than buying a new tent, are there any solutions that could make this work?

Answer
If possible allow it to hang over allotted pad. Try to keep your gear in the 12X12 space. The Nat'l Forest campground i go to has pea gravel pads with"curbs" which are about 14X17 My 17X 10 Coleman just fits but I've see others use bigger tents do the overhang thing with no trouble. Good luck enjoy you trip

What fun things can I do in Yellowstone?

I'm taking a trip there in a few days and I was wondering what kind of stuff they have there and what things I can do on the way there. :) Also we will be in a tent. Will I get eaten by bears?

Answer
Yellowstone National Park is one of the coolest places to visit on Earth. You will enjoy viewing all kinds of geysers, and make sure to view Old Faithful. Yellowstone Falls is very beautiful and you can hike down to the very edge of the falls. So many other places are great too, such as mammoth hot springs, the artist paint pots, Yellowstone lake, the dragon's mouth and the sulfur cauldron. If you want to see wildlife, go to the Hayden Valley around dusk. You can see bison, wolves, moose, elk, and bears there. You will be fine in a tent in the camping areas. More people are hurt by bison than bears.
FYI, Half Dome is a geologic feature of Yosemite National Park, not Yellowstone.
