What will I need to go tent camping?

Blue987

I've grown up "camping" however it was always in a jumbo motor home. Next weekend I'm going tent camping and I want to be prepared. This is what I'm bringing... what else will I need?

Our site has water and electric, and bathrooms and showers close by:

Bringing:
tents
sleeping bags/pillow
small grill and propane
cooler with food/water
towels
plates/utensils/grill utensils
bug spray and sunscreen
clothes/ flip flops / sneakers / swimsuit / toiletries
flashlights
deck of cards
fire wood - will buy there
lighter

What else might I need? Temp will be high of 90 during the day, low of 59 at night. Possibility of rain at night

Thanks!

Answer
Oh yikes, it's VERY uncomfy sleeping on a sleeping bag in a tent on the ground PLEASE buy a mat or air mattress to put underneath your sleeping bag.
remember to place a tarp under the tent. and to check for big rocks/ sticks where you're going to put your tent.

We're going tent camping with an 11 month old breastfed baby in a quiet location, what should I bring with?

We use the g-diapers and were considering getting just disposables for the 5 day outing. Has anyone else tried just using the g-diapers for camping? What else should we bring with? We're going tent camping and baby will be sleeping with us.
Cute...owie person
uhm, the bathrooms are going to be over a mile away, lol. And i do have enough covers to last 5 days, it's the liners for the g-diapers i'm worried about. Am i just sposed to put them in a bag until i get home?

Answer
If you have enough covers for 5 days with out needing to do laundry, what's the big deal with just using your normal diapers? You'd just throw them away or flush them (I'm assuming you actually have toilets where you're camping) like you always do. It's not like you actually have to wash dirty cloth diapers or anything if you have enough covers.

Edit: Tent camping in the wilderness... that's the way to do it!

What are you doing with the rest of your trash? Yeah, I'd suggest just putting them in a bag to haul out when you're done. You'd have to do the same with disposables, so why bother using diapers you're not familiar with, your baby isn't used to, and that might cause some irritation?

The liners are compost-able, so I suppose you could bury them and let them break down. :)
