I was just looking at my university job board and they're hiring people who "love other people and the outdoors" to work at a summer camp for the Boy Scouts of America.

I called the number but they didn't answer, I didn't expect them to since it is a Saturday.

My question is, would they only be hiring guys?
The job description didn't specify.

Answer
Hello muggle1234:

Summer camps do hire women for staff. It is a fun way to spend summer, however you will need to know that you will be camping six days a week with one day off. Your accommodations may be in a permanent building, or a tent. Most likely you won't have air conditioning. You will have access to a shower and possibly a restroom with running water, HOWEVER some camps are still "improved primitive" where the restroom may be a vault toilet with no running water.

You will also need to know that you may be only one of a few women in a camp of 200+ boys 10 to 18 and 30 or so men 19 to 100. If you go, you will have fun and it will be a pleasant experience you will remember.

Keep on Scoutin'

Can a landlord throw away my property that was in the basement?

We had a lot of things stored in our basement of the 2 family house were we live. We had put the things into rubbermaid tubs and on shelves. The stuff was the children's outdoor toys, our camping gear including our tent, housewares that we were not using, baby and toddler toys we were saving for the baby we are now having some furniture. We went to the basement because I tripped a fuse over this weekend and noticed everything was gone. We called the landlord only for him to say everything was junk and he hired some men to clean out the basement and that our stuff was in the dump.

Can he do this without notifying us?

Answer
If you rent the basement, then he owes you.

If you don't, it was on his property and it was his to dispose of.

In the future, make sure you only keep things on your leased space. You have no right to take over property simply because it would be easier for you.
